Transparency

Transparency is one of the values (alongside with ethics) I’ve come to start valuing more. When I choose a new software, services, tools, or even how I engage with people, I look for honesty and openness, even if it costs me more time or more money.

What I look for

Open Source: If there’s a FOSS alternative, I’ll put some priority for it over proprietary software. My own projects are public on Codeberg.

Privacy: No tracking, no data harvesting, no data selling, and no bullshit. You can also find my privacy policy here.

Ethics: I’d rather pay more for something that respects its users than for something that doesn’t. If a company’s business model is exploitative or unethical, I’m not interested.

Honesty: Clear communication. If something is wrong, I expect it to be admitted, not spun.

Why this matters

The internet is full of opaque, untransparent garbage. Transparency isn’t about hiding or masking, it’s about being clear and honest.

If I wouldn’t trust it, I won’t use it. If I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend, I won’t endorse it.
